“Our Year 9 students had a team building day with The One Day Film School. It was a huge success and the students had an amazing time, whilst also working collaboratively and problem solving together. The feedback from the students were overwhelmingly positive and they loved to be able to explore their creativity, have fun in front and behind the camera, and learn more about the film industry. THE FACILITATORS were both engaging and inspiring and led the girls through the day’s activities with ease. The whole day went like clock-work and I was impressed by how much we managed to fit into a day. Watching the students final work at the end was a brilliant finale to the day and hugely enjoyable. Thank you very much”
– Lena Taylor-Vik, Head of Year 9

STUDENT FEEDBACK (year 9):
“I really enjoyed working in a group with my friends, making a film all from our own ideas. We all contributed differently, talked and discussed and made our final presentation. This growing together day made my relationship with my peers closer, and made me consider taking film studies for GCSE!” – zabrina

“It was a really fun day and definitely brought our groups together as there were a lot of stressful last minute changes, laughs, and cringes. We enjoyed the day massively, especially because we got a non-uniform day for it” – el

YEARS BOOKED: 2012-
YEAR GROUP: 8 (ONE DAY FILM SCHOOL)
“The One Day Film School is always a day to look forward to and is one of the highlights of our Year 8 Post-Exam programme. Not only do pupils thoroughly enjoy learning about the history of film-making, fight choreography and camera craft, but they also love having the chance to put their creativity and skills to the test by making films of their own, often with dramatic and hilarious results. A brilliant day for all involved!” – FIONA PROBERT, HEAD OF YEAR 8

YEARS BOOKED: 2010-

“St Edward’s Oxford has booked the One Day Film School since 2012 because provides a great team work activity for the start of the academic year. Our pupils have enjoyed learning about the various skills involved in filmmaking, such as film history, screenwriting and camera. The highlight of the day is the Oscars ceremony, because it offers the chance for the pupils to show the high quality films that they were able to make. We continue to run the One Day Film School at St Edward’s Oxford each year because we couldn’t think of a more effective way to run a challenging team building induction activity at the start of the year” – ANNA FIELDING, International Baccalaureate Coordinator

I enjoyed all of the films very much, however I was wondering why the tragic wedding was in black and white, now I know: it was Ethan’s orange wig.

I loved the film day, I was so exiting and fun, I learn so much!
Year Group: 9
I found the day incredibly fun and rewarding, especially with the fact that there is an added level of competition, and I would highly recommend it to other schools.

The film day was a great experience for the people who in the future want to direct a film. I thought it was really fun and it was very useful for socializing with people and use our brains to think of different ideas of how you would shot your next shot to make it look good.
Year Group: 9
I really enjoyed yesterdays film day which I learned so many new things which (as I really like film making) will level up my movies.
Year Group: 9
What an opportunity to both have fun and learn film technique at the same time.

Film day, a day where pupils got the opportunity to be someone they aren’t

The Shell Film Day yesterday was very interesting and expanded my knowledge on filming, editing and various ways to express emotion without speaking, which this skill could be extremely useful in the future.

Completely and utterly embarrassing

Film day was a day like no other that brought different people together and gave us the freedom we needed to make a different masterpieces that I will never forget.

The Shell Film Day was an exciting day full of enthusiastic young actors ready to take their first small step into the world of acting. Although this day might not be the start of everyone’s acting career, it was definitely an exhilarating and invigorating day, that all shells shall certainly remember in the future.
Year Group: 9
I think the film day was a nice break from classes, and it taught us a lot about cinematography. I think it was useful to every pupil because it taught us how to deal with being in groups with other pupils, to take part in making art, to make plans and experience leadership. This was fun. I’m a tad bit saddened by its ending actually.
Year Group: 9
the film day was a magical experience with real professional actors teaching us about special skills we would need to make our own films, all shown at the end of the event. A truly great encounter.

The film day was mozzare-hella good

I thought that is was very good, I thoroughly enjoyed it, I would have maybe liked if we got more time to film our main movies as my group did not have enough, other than that I really liked it and would love to do it again if I could.
Year Group: 9
The film day was very good even though it was very hard, and we had to use a lot of imagination. It was thrilling to understand how films were made and I think the actor was really good. My favourite part of the day is when we learned how to hit someone.
Year Group: 9
It was an extremely entertaining way to give us concrete methods for film making that professional directors use constantly

The Film day was a break from the repetitive form of school life, an enjoyable experience to remember and eye opening view on the behind the behind the scenes of films and the experience of an actor.
