10 SHOT FILM AWARDS 2023: HIGHLY COMMENDED – ‘THE LOST SOUL’
“The One Day Film School has been coming to Bedales for over 18 years and it has become a much talked about and anticipated event in our calendar each year. Each year the student productions have become more creative and original under the expert guidance and support from Ed and his team. It is highly recommended as an event – hugely enjoyable and the students gain so much in terms of learning about the film industry and developing their broader skills” – michelle cooke (head of lower school) & chloe hamill (head of 6th form)
STUDENT FEEDBACK (YEAR 11):
“As part of the Bedales 6th form induction the Young Film Academy brought their One Day Film School to the students – an amazing opportunity to bond and develop team-building skills whilst doing something creative and entertaining. The day started with the presentation on technicalities of filming and advice on avoiding common mistakes, followed by a rehearsal of a fight sequence, and a test run on making a 3 shot film, with us later producing original 2 minute pieces. The day concluded with our very own world premiere and the Oscars. It was a thrilling experience, that helped us get to know each other better, pushed us to try something we wouldn’t necessarily have done in everyday life, and think imaginatively, to voice our ideas, and create, in a fun environment”

Years booked: 2018-
year groups: 9 (one day film school) 12 (the sequel)
“Bancroft’s has been working with the One Day Film School for several years now, utilising both the online modules over a term and the in-person workshops as part of drop-down days. We value the opportunity for our students to have a creative outlet, and to collaborate with peers in new and exciting ways. Feedback from students is always great and the film screenings are a wonderful way to bring the cohort together – what they produce is often utterly bonkers but simultaneously brilliant. But the best part of the ODFS is the opportunity to inject some pure, no-strings-attached, fun into the school day” – phil harrison, head of 6th form
