City of London School
YEARS BOOKED: 2012-
YEAR GROUPS: 6, 7 (ONE DAY FILM SCHOOL) 8,9 (THE SEQUEL)
“The One Day Film School has been part of our programme at City of London since 2012. Each year, pupils have learned skills such as screenwriting and camerawork – then put their skills into action, making 10 Shot Films which are screened at the end of the day. More recently, they have also provided an online course and Film Schools for younger pupils. We work with the One Day Film School because they are an extremely well-run organisation, providing a professional and engaging experience. Their staff are superb, drawing on their expertise and knowledge to inspire participants. The benefits to the pupils are wide-ranging. Beyond learning the basics of filmmaking, they have to find ways to work collaboratively to produce the best possible outcome. It has been a pleasure to recommend the Young Film Academy to other schools in the confidence that they will do a brilliant job” – ANDREW MCBROOM, Deputy Head Co-curricular & Operations

year groups: 12 (one day film school)
“The One Day Film School run a very slick operation; the students really enjoyed the day and, acting within the clear parameters set, the films produced were of an impressively high standard” – bill baker, head of 6th form
“one day film school provides an ideal opportunity for our Prefects to develop skills in leadership and teamwork. The aim of the day at Churcher’s College is to provide students with the challenge to make a 10 Shot Film and through pursuing this goal they develop their communication skills, get a chance to show off their individual talents and work together to achieve success. Their films were a fantastic indication that they followed Ed’s clear structure and it definitely developed their sense of belonging across the Prefect Team” – amanda clark, deputy head of 6th form
“A funny short that makes reference to the slapstick of the silent film era and the playful quality of the films of that time. There is a loveliness to this film’s simplicity, and its imaginative playing with the silent micro-short format. The result is something amusing, inventive and pleasingly silly” – alex lawther, actor (‘the end of the f***ing world, black mirror, the imitation game)
