“The One Day Film School has been part of our Year 8 Activities Week at Guildford High School since 2007. At the end of Summer Term, Year 8s go ‘off timetable’ and have fun learning about how films are made, including analysing fight scenes, learning how to use cameras and the key principles of screenwriting. They then make silent 10-Shot films in groups, with just an hour to film and edit, before the world premiere (and Oscars). We always book the One Day Film School because the content of the day is well-thought out, professionally presented and challenging in nature. The course leaders provided by the One Day Film School have deep experience in the film making business and consistently make the day a success. The pupil feedback is always extremely positive and the short films they produce are high quality. The films are often shown again to the pupils when they are higher up the school, and they always recall the day with great fondness” – WILL SAUNDERS, DEPUTY HEAD

“‘The Young Film Academy have visited our school for a number of years and are always an exciting highlight to the calendar for our Year 7 & 8 girls. they are always very professional, easy to work with and manage to inspire and guide our girls to create their own films in a day. The highlight is always the film festival at the end of the day and I’m always surprised by the quality produced in such a short time. I enjoyed running around and filming creatively, whilst also learning about my teammate’s talents and contributions. I especially loved the end of the day when we all got to see each other’s projects, as it was extremely fun, but it also showed us what we did well, and what we could work on!”

“At the start of the project, we often found we had many disagreements and arguments about what we thought, but not long after, I realized that for our project to work, we had to not only input our thoughts and ideas, but genuinely listen to others’ ideas. At first, I often found myself pushing others’ ideas away as I was too distracted with my own, but after hearing what my team had to say, I realized how good theirs could be, and a lot of them were better than mine!”
